Sliver (11) is supplied to a multi-position spinning machine from cans (10) arranged on two floors. At least the lower floor (5) has a conveyor (14) running the length of the machine and sliver guides (15, 16) which move with the cans hold the end of each sliver in readyness. Draw-off rollers (17), pref. driven, can run along the length of the machine above the sliver guides (15, 16). USE/ADVANTAGE - The lower level of cans does not require access between the cans for piecing up and the whole installation can be made more compact.
