A spacer structure for nuclear reactors, especially hot reactors, which are similar to boiling water reactors, but of smaller power capacity. The spacer structure, for supporting, insertion and removal of fuel elements consists of rectangular lattice cells arranged so that at any junction gap four cells are arranged around it. The corners of the lattice cells consist of angled plates, which are sepd. from each other so that an unoccupied junction space is formed. This space can then be occupied by moveable control rods included in their absorber elements. ADVANTAGE - Avoidance of any unused cavities between the spacer plates. The use of prefabrication technology ensures no loss of functionality or lattice stability compared with existing lattice assembly techniques.
