Electrostatic separator with paraxial tubes of polygonal section - has mutually supported ends of dumb=bell section plate formations along major edges of octagonal tubular elements

The separator is mfd. of plastic and/or metal (e.g. Pb) and constitutes a tubular filter with octagonal sections (11) and axial corona electrodes (12). The tube walls are assembled from elementary plates (20-29) formed as pptn. electrodes for two adjacent tubes. The horizontal cross-sections of the plates are of dumbbell pattern and the vertical sides have square profiles (31,32) projecting out of the plane of the plates. Adjacent profiles are mutually supported in the operating condition. ADVANTAGE - Simple but stable structure requires only one platelike component with dumbbell-shaped horizontal cross-section.
