Dental articulator with upper arm supported on pivot pins - which are supported in plaster to enable position of upper arm to be adjusted

The dental articulator has a lower and an upper arm (1,7) each of which carries a model of the lower or upper jaw. The upper arm (7) is attached to a cross member (8) which is supported on pivot pins which are fixed to the upper ends of the uprights. Each pivot pin has a ball end (5) attached to a shank of reduced dia. The ball end (5) is secured to the cross member (8) by a screw (10). The shank of each pin is embedded in a mass of plaster of Paris which is supported in a recess in the upright (4). Whilst the plaster is still soft the position of the upper arm with respect to the lower arm is adjusted and then held in the correct position by a position checking device which can be removed when the plaster has hardened.
