The mudguard has buffer to deflect water spray, using an air flow. This is directed between mudguard and tyre, from outside towards the vehicle centre. Air guide surfaces (7, 11) are located on the outer edge (6) of each mudguard (5). The guide surfaces are open towards the relative wind. They deflect the wind at right angles to the direction of travel (4) into the space between mudguard and tyre (1). One guide surface is formed as a nozzle guide surface, located to the side, outside the mudguard. This has a nozzle gap between its inner surface and the neighbouring mudguard surface. The nozzle gap has a wider open front intake gap, and a rear smaller outlet gap. This is directed inwards under the mudguard. ADVANTAGE - Simple, cheap.
