Packing element, for a column process unit, in the shape of a tetrahedron, cube or dodecahedron, has between the corner points flat surface arranged radially towards, or in similar fashion, by, the centre, the outer bounding surface straight or convex, and the inner edge of surface, around the centre, at a distance from it equal to 0.35-0.65 times the distance between the centre and a corner point. USE/ADVANTAGE - Random packing, for a heat and/or mass transfer column, of simple construction, providing mineral hydraulic flow resistance, high surface area, and presenting isotropic configuration in the dumped condition.
