Salvage of metal dust removed from workpieces by grinding - by compressing mixture of metal dust and cooling medium to form bars

The metal dust removed from a workpiece is recycled in the following way. The metal dust is mixed with the cooling fluid as it is removed from the workpiece. The mixture is loaded into a funnel (1) which guides the mixture into a tube (4). The mixture is then compressed to form a solid bar by a piston which slides axially in the tube and is actuated by hydraulic pressure. The mixture (9) is pressed against an end wall (5) which can be retracted sideways by a second hydraulic cylinder. When the end wall has been retracted the bars formed from the mixture are ejected and fall into a bin (6). The cooling medium expresed during the compression of the mixture is reused and the metal dust is salvaged by melting the bars. USE/ADVANTAGE - Salvage of valuable metal dust.
