The slubbing feed mechanism to the workstation of a spinner, esp. a ring spinner with separate electro-motor drives for each spindle, is stopped (7) when the electro-motor (1) is brought to rest through an event registered by a sensor which is electronically evaluated (4) as necessary to stop the spindle drive. While the motor (1) is brought to rest, at least one of the coils (W1-W3) provides induced electrical energy for an electro-mechanical converter (6) to activate the slubbing stop mechanism (7). The event requiring a motor (1) stoppage is detected through an induced voltage at a sensor coil, or an induced voltage through evaluation of the total voltage of the separate coils (W1-W3) while the motor (1) is operating and the voltage at the unseparated coils. The event is a change in the frequency or phase of the voltage being assessed. The induced voltage is rectified at least at one coil of the electro-motor and the generated DC is used to control an electro-magnet. When the slubbing stop (7) has been activated, after a motor stoppage, it remains automatically in the activated setting. ADVANTAGE - The system provides the required electrical energy to activate a slubbing stop mechanism at a given workstation, without wiring through the whole spinning assembly to power the electro-mechanical converters.
