Phase locked loop circuit with count phase discriminator - uses output pulse ratio to control regulating voltage for voltage-controlled oscillator

The circuit has a count phase discriminator allowing pulses (B) obtained from the input signal (A) to be coupled to 2 outputs (E.F) in dependence on the phase position relative to the oscillation (C) of a voltage - controlled oscillator (1), with a regulating voltage (UR) obtained from the ratio of the pulse counts at the 2 outputs (E.F). A reversible counter (16) recives the pulses from the 2 outputs (E.F) at respective inputs via frequency dividers (18, 19), the obtained count used to control the regulating voltage via a D/A converter (17). One or both the division factors of the frequency dividers is variable. USE - For generating bit clock signal for decoding or regeneration of bit sequence in DA recorder.
