Deformable lamellar electrode or current distributor e.g. for gas evolving - has deformable regions between edges of thin foil elements to cause contraction of elements in direction of applied force
An electrode or current distributor, for gas evolving or consuming electrolytic processes, consists of thin foil elements with intermediate capillary gaps, the novelty being that one or more deformation regions are provided between the element edges so that, when a force acts transversely to the electrode or current distributor plane, the elements can contact in the direction of the force. ADVANTAGE - The design ensures low loss electrical energy supply to the cell esp. by bipolar electrodes and avoids mechanical or electrical overloading and damage to the separator system (membranes or diaphragms).
