An electronic system (3), e.g. a flat electronics module (30) and a controller (300), is adjusted w.r.t. the mechanical parts of the disc drive appts. which are subjected to mfg. tolerances, e.g. the pick-up head/disc assembly. An electronic memory device permanently stores individual parameters of the mechanical parts. Compensation for mfg. tolerances is achieved by automatically accessing the function controller of the electronic system. The electronic memory device is pref. an EEPROM mounted on a flexible carrier (5), connected via a plug to the controller (300). USE/ADVANTAGE - For hard or floppy disc drives etc. Simplified operation and maintenance.
