Wall areas (9) protect and/or guide and/or cover the spray jet (20) as far as the upper third part of the longitudinal section of the hammer projecting out of the hammer holder, and to the hard metal cutting edge of the point. The wall areas covering or protecting the spray jet are arranged on the rear side of the hammer (2). Such wall areas (9) form an open trough or groove-shaped space or a recess counterpoised to the drive direction (8) of the hammer. The cross-section of this space is circular, polygonal or elliptical. USE/ADVANTAGE - For mining machinery, to protect the spray fluid jet to the hammer peak against outer influences.
