The sample method extracting from the input and output flows of a separator for directly separable light liquids involves allowing a quantity of waste water to remain in a separator vessel for a defined time. The separated fractions are run off into a separate vessels and the light material not directly separated is determined. The samples are extracted by applying a vacuum to the separator vessel and allowing the liquid to remain in the separator vessel under ambient press.
