The sample method extracting from the input and output flows of a separator for directly separable light liquids involves allowing a quantity of waste water to remain in a separator vessel for a defined time. The separated fractions are run off into a separate vessels and the light material not directly separated is determined. The samples are extracted by applying a vacuum to the separator vessel and allowing the liquid to remain in the separator vessel under ambient press. Press. is then applied to force out the liquid up to the required fraction into an extraction line. The changeover of the pump from suction to press. and the opening of a valve is controlled by level sensors and a timer circuit. ADVANTAGE - Enables previously manually intensive extraction process to be automated.
