The system controls a motor, such as that used to adjust the throttle in the fuelling system of a road vehicle. The controller (10) has input elements (12), processors and memory modules (14, 16) and output stages (18, 20). Each processor has an associated reset unit (22, 24) and a watchdog circuit (26, 28). The reset and watchdog stages are coupled to a logic stage (98) to provide a combined output. The outputs generated are received by a logic circuit to maintain safe operation if a processor failure occurs. ADVANTAGE - Improves reliability of system operation.
