The bottle has a body made of aluminium with a cylindrical main part and hemispherical end caps. The aluminium body is reinforced with external windings of fibre reinforced plastics material. In the transition region between the cylindrical main part and the hemispherical end caps the reinforcement is arranged in layers (11,13,15) in which the fibres cross over one another, alternating with layers (12,14) in which the fibres are arranged radially. A layer (11) with cross-windings is in direct contact with the aluminium body (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Storage of high pressure gas. The use of fibre reinforced plastics provides a bottle of minimum weight.
