Solar energy converter for solar power station - uses structured lens system to direct light onto photocell strip flanked by mirrors to capture stray light for reflection onto photocells via additional mirrors
The sunlight is captured by a structured lens (9) and directed down towards a strip of photocells (7). Light directed alongside the strip falls onto concave mirror strips (11) which focus this light to laterally positioned upper mirrors (11) and back down onto the photocells. The outer lens system can be rotated to follow the sun and provides efficient light capture for angled light as well as overhead light. The flanking mirrors transmit IR radiation to a water storage underneath. Surplus energy is stored thermally in the water for subsequent reclaiming by other means. The whole system is floated on a contained water system. ADVANTAGE - Improved conversion efficiency, improved energy storage.
