Plant for single stage purificn. of (esp. municipal) waste water has round aeration tank (1) with central waste water feeder (2), circumferential water run-off channel (4) at its rim (3) and relating aeration bridge (5) having rotary drive (6) and predetermined rotational direction. The bridge (5) has aerators (7) near the bottom of the tank and a driven propeller (8) at its trailing side for flow acceleration, the rotary drive (6), the propeller drive (9) and the aerators (7) being independently controllable with the aeration air flow. Pref. active sludge lifting device (10), of controllable lifting capacity, is connected to the trailing edge of the bridge (5) at a distance from the tank rim (3). The bridge (5) is pref. rotated fast enough to create a turbulant wake for thorough water mixing. The bridge (5) pref. also has run-off water lifting device (14) of controllable lifting capacity. Measuring devices (15) and computer control system are pref. also provided. ADVANTAGE - The plant has increased purificn. (esp. denitrification) capacity.
