The injection-seeding laser beam is coupled via the optical diode constituted by a Faraday rotator (FR) between two polarisers (P2,P3) relatively rotated by 45 deg. The first polariser (P2) transmits the light emitted from the resonator, for 45 deg. rotation by the Faraday rotator (FR) so that it is transmitted by the second polariser (P3). The first polariser (P2) transmits seeding light into the resonator. USE/ADVANTAGE - For Nd:YAG laser, seeding laser beam is coupled into resonator without serious loss, saving about 80% of energy compared with end mirror coupling, or 99.9% compared with polariser coupling.
