Commutator brush for engines and generators - comprises known (in)organic binders and high purity graphite and has good electrical, chemical, mechanical and thermal properties and wear resistance

Commutator brush (I) comprises known (in)organic binders and graphite with 99.9% degree of purity. Pref. 95% of the graphite has grain size of less than 80 microns. It has a uniform structure with a layer plane distance of 0.334 and 0.337 nm. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) can be used as carbon brushes for engines and generators. (I) has high electrical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal properties, and improved wear. In an example, the graphite powder and known (in)organic binders were mixed so that the amt. of binder was 13 wt.%. The graphite used had a degree of purity of 99.9%, a layer plane distance of 0.3355 nm and a grain size distribution of 98% less than 75 microns and 100% less than 128 microns. The commutator brush made from this graphite had good conducting and sliding properties
