The sprinkler consists of a supply tube fixed vertically in the ground with piston (1) and cylinder (7) tubes of corrosion resistant material proof against chalk action. Copper or plastic tubes of different bore are used with sealing rings (2) between them, so that, when dry, there is little play which facilitates an easy sliding action. A spray nozzle (5) is fitted on top of the piston tube (1). When water is turned on the pressure raises the nozzle above the ground surface, and when the water is off the nozzle retracts flush with the ground.
