The surfaces are arranged at 30-80 deg. to the horizontal so during filtration fluid passage through the filter at an angle from top to bottom; and non-porous surfaces are exactly or almost parallel to these filter surfaces at 5-200 mm, upon which the sepd. filter cake may slide down under the influence of gravity. A pref. assembly includes inclined filter surfaces and surfaces down which sludge drops into a sludge collecting vessel.
