The heater has a cylindrical housing (4) fitted into the inlet manifold pipe (1) and is secured by a mounting plate (10) on the outside of the manifold. The plate also locates a glow plug (9) ignitor and a jet (12) for spraying fuel onto the glow plug. A single control valve (14) fitted to one of the mounting plates is fed by a single fuel pipe (16). Distribution ducts feed fuel to the other heaters. The control valve housing has a duct (17) through its length. One end locates the main control valve and the other end connects to the fuel distribution lines. The injector jet also connects to the through duct. ADVANTAGE - Efficient prewarming of all of intake air; cost saving construction using single valve and single main fuel feed.
