The appts. to cut the weft, at a jet loom, has an electrically heated and stationary hot wire pref. outside the flow field of the weft jet insertion unit, enclosed within a housing with a yarn guide slit. A yarn push unit is diametrically opposite the yarn guide slit. The yarn push unit is pref. an arm of an angled lever, with a fork-shaped head to grasp the weft between the jet insertion unit and the start of the weft insertion channel. The yarn push unit can also be a swing arm, rotating on an axis parallel to weft line, of it is a push unit sliding axially parallel to the reed movement. The operation of the weft push unit is synchronised with the loom through a kinematic link to the main shaft. The weft can also be moved along a sliding path against the hot wire through the yarn guide slit in the hot wire housing. The weft is severed in the time gap between the beating-in and bonding of the weft into the woven fabric. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives a rapid and clean cut to the weft yarn, esp. when working with filament yarns, without the complexity of mechanical cutters.
