The appts. to apply a fluid to yarn, while being wound by a reciprocating guide into a cross wound bobbin, has an outlet opening (10) with a slit (8) in the reciprocating zone (B) of the yarn movement. The surface (16), where fluid from the yarn is distributed as a film, is an angled surface extending into the upper half of the reciprocating movement zone (B). Pref. the wetting surface (16) ends near the reciprocating yarn guide (4), and is defined by side walls (17) along the reciprocating zone (B). The lower end of the wetting surface (16) is at a gap from the end of the slit, with a flap (20) bent away from the yarn path to carry surplus fluid back to a catch container (24). The outlet opening (10) is at the base of the slit (8), near its outlet end, where a deflection edge (12) moves the yarn (5) at a small angle to the wetting surface (16). The deflection edge (12) is between the base (9) of the slit and a surface (13) pitched at a larger angle. A suction opening (14) is at the slit (8) below the outlet opening (10), connected to a suction channel (15) with a suction jet at its end to generate suction air in the channel at given time intervals. The fluid (F) is fed to the outlet opening (10) by a pulsating dosing pump with a variable frequency and/or stroke volume. A pressure compensation chamber can be in front of the outlet opening. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives a high deg. of wetting to the yarn, when the yarn travels at high speeds.
