Bidirectional power supply circuitry between AC and DC networks - holds intermediate DC at high level using two rectifiers with common connections on DC and AC sides
The circuit links an AC grid to a DC load.The 3-phase grid is connected via a commutating choke (LK) to two controlled rectifiers (VB, RB) in parallel which supply the load (L) through a smoothing choke (Ld) and parallel capacitor (Cd). A comparator (K) and control unit (KL) are used to maintain the DC voltage at the required value by suitable switching of the rectifiers, one being used for energy flow from AC to DC, the other for reverse flow. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rectifiers linking an AC grid to a DC load. Need for only a small smoothing choke on DC side reduces expense.
