Manure slurry agitator comprises a floor-anchored submerged electric motor, an agitator rotor coupled to the motor shaft, and a rotor shroud. Novelty is that the anchor frame (28, 30) possesses two wall-supported vertical rails (30), between which is arranged the rotor shroud (36), whereby the plane of the front faces of the rails is perpendicular to the rotor shaft (24). At some distance below the upper ends of both wall support rails (30) is pivotedly connected, about a horizontal axis (A2), a stirrup frame (40), which at least possesses a stop member (44) limiting the upwards swing by its bearing on the wall support rail (30) in the lifting position. The rear half ot he stirrup frame (40) is provided with suspending means (48) for a lifting device e.g. a chain. The suspending means (48) is in the lifting position of the frame (40), at least approx. vertically above the centre of gravity (M) of the agitator assembly (10), inclusive of its anchor frame (28, 30). The length of the stirrup frame (40) is dimensioned so that it extends behind the submersible motor (22) and smoothly engages the rear wall (14) of the sump or channel (20), so as to bear against the wall support rails (30) on the front wall (18) which has a floor region opening (32) in which is arranged the agitation rotor (26).
