The pressure infusion appts. housing has a first holder for a syringe and a second holder which can move linearly from a motor-powered element relative to the frist holder to expel the syringe contents. A hand rotated shaft can be coupled to the spindle. The coupling is reversible (34) so that, in a first setting, motor (27) rotation is transferred to the linear element (60) and the force flow between shaft (40) and element (60) is interrupted. In a second setting the coupling transfers shaft movement to the element and cuts off the motor/element connection. The element (60) remains positively locked in the second holder (15) to drive this without jerks or irregularities. ADVANTAGE - Reversible coupling switches from motor to hand drive without loss of hold thus ensuring smooth syringe movement despite pressure gradients.
