The trackless vehicle has an endless track propulsion unit (3) supplied from an energy source above ground via a supply cable (18) at the rear and supporting pivoted inspection or maintenance tools (9) at the front. The tools are mounted on a console (8) at the front of a releasable control platform (6) attached to the propulsion unit (3) and having a driving seat (5) and steering wheels (7) adjacent the console (8). The drive unit (3) has an electrohydraulic energy platform (4) and a single endless drive track (19) with 2 non-driven side support wheels (24) directed radially outwards.
