The fuel feed pump has a cylindrically shaped housing inserted in a feed path between the fuel pump and an engine, containing an electrically driven pump having a cog spline (30) arranged eccentrically relative to an internally toothed cog ring (36), for engaging the cog ring teeth. The cog ring has flow channels (62) leading to the gaps between the teeth allowing the pumps chamber (38) to be coupled to the suction side or the press side of the pump. Pref. the flow channels are arranged in diametrically opposing pairs. The fuel pump has a component with two diametrically oppositely arranged flow channels (62,64) which join pump chamber channels with inlet and outlet of the system. ADVANTAGE - Reduced operating noise and wear.
