The heat sink device has a flat rectangular housing (1) for attaching to one sidewall of the electronic cabinet to an inlet opening (4) receiving the heated cooling air stream ejected from the cabinet and an exit opening (5) for feeding the cooling air back to the cabinet. A second inlet opening (6) is provided for cooled ambient air supplied to a counter-flow heat exchanger (8) with vertical flow channels (9) for the ambient air, which is subsequently discharged to the atmosphere via a second exit opening (7). The heat exchanger (8) comprises a packet of identical parallel profiles with a double T cross-section, together defining flow channels (9) with a rectangular cross-section, with curved deflectors (21a,21b) at the opposite ends of the heat exchanger (8) leading to the respective exit openings (5,7).
