Sorting particles according to shape - by dropping particles onto inclined belt, causing round particles to roll downhill and debris to travel uphill with belt

The process sorts particles according to shape, especially the sorting of spherical drum milling beads from bead debris. The particle mix is dispensed from a hopper (3) onto the moving belt of a conveyor (1) which is inclined so that the direction of travel is uphill as the mix drops onto the belt the round particles roll downhill against the direction of belt travel and fall off the end into a container (5). The irregularly shaped particle debris however clings to the belt surface and is carried to the top end of the belt where it is eased off into a second container (4) by air blown through flat nozzles (6,7). ADVANTAGE - Round particles are segregated irrespective of diameter.
