Hollow bodies used as packing are new and are produced from waste paper which is e.g. ground and mixed with water to give a dough which is pressed in a mould without using a binder and allowed to dry. The hollow bodies are thin walled and taper to their openings so that they cannot be stacked one inside another. Compared to conventional packing materials such as foamed polystyrene chips, wood wool, paper wool etc., the material has an extremely high air content. ADVANTAGE - The material is inexpensive uses recycled waste paper, requires no binder, is light and saves transport costs.
