The goods vehicle or an omnibus is equipped with the usual type of drive which consists of a Diesel-engine (1) a clutch (2) and a gearbox. The gearbox is connected to the road wheels by a shaft (4). The vehicle is provided with a secondary drive (19) which is connected to the gearbox (3). The secondary drive system consists of a second engine (11) which is fuelled by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG). The power output of this second engine is low compared with the output of the diesel engine. USE/ADVANTAGE - Secondary power source for a motor vehicle. The gas engine is lighter and cheaper than an electric motor and battery.
