The method involves evaluating a signal from a drive unit, an energy transmission path, or an adjusted object, that has a fundamental periodicity which is characteristic of the system. A signal superimposed on the periodicity signal is also evaluated. The superimposed signal may be a non-periodic analogue signal, or with a period and/or amplitude which differs from the fundamental periodicity signal. The drive unit may be a commutator motor or hydraulic pump, and the electrical current or pressure ripple the characteristic signal. USE/ADVANTAGE - For vehicle electric window or sliding roof drives. Increased resolution without additional sensors.
