Synchronising code words of cyclic, corrected code - dividing symbol sequence to be decoded into code words with preset number of sequential symbols

The symbol sequence is divided into code words, consisting of a number of sequential symbols, determd. by the respective code. For each code word, or for individual ones, a fault pattern is determd. The faulty code word symbols, picked up by the decoder, and the fault-free ones are each represented in the fault pattern by separate number values. From the sequential fault patterns, all or selected number values corresp. to identical code word symbol positions, are added. After the addition of the fault patterns, ...ble number of patterns, the summation results of adjacent positions are compared. From the greatest difference, a correction signal for the synchronisation is derived. USE/ADVANTAGE - Digital transmission systems, with utilisation of fault correction parameters of cyclic code only, without extra synchronising signals.
