The fuel pump enables a diesel engine, started with normal diesel fuel, to change over to a more viscous plant oil once the engine is warm. The changeover control is via remote control from the dashboard and operates with an adjustment for the maximum torque setting. This compensates for the different effects of the two fuels and enables sufficient torque to be generated using the more viscous fuel. The change-over can be via solenoids, using a common drive current. A mechanical control can also be employed, with a direct mechanical link between the fuel selection and the stop adjustment. ADVANTAGE - Simple changeover control, compensation for fuel efficiency. Engine can be run normally on diesel in absence of plant oil.
