Adjustment of three roll assembly defining common calibre opening - involves using triangular and hexagonal patterns to ensure a common focal point for each roll, allowing rapid and accurate adjustment
Adjusting the radial positions of three rolls forming a common calibre opening defined by their concave work surfaces, involves using a triangular pattern (11) which can be rotated and moved linerly via the operation of a parallelogramme guide. The patterns of the three rolls are projected onto the pattern (11) and using one roll the pattern (11) is rotated until it achieves a position whereby the roll can be moved axially without its deepest position moving away from a side of the triangle. The pattern is then rotationally locked in position before being linearly moved until the gaps between each deep position and a side of a triangle is the same. The final adjustment is achieved using a six sided pattern whose every alternate corner is aligned with the corner of a triangle. The rolls are then moved in turn until the gaps between the work surfaces and the sides of the hexagon are equal, thereby ensuring a common focal point of the concave work surfaces. ADVANTAGE - Adjustment is rapid and accurate.
