Prodn. of bearer plates for vehicle brake linkages - involves hammer-head-type ends under tractive end pressure load on bearer plate and retention bed sintered on to side bearing friction material block
Prodn. of bearer plates for vehicle brake linkages - involves hammer-head-type ends under tractive end pressure load on bearer plate and retention bed sintered on to side bearing friction material block
The brake lining comprises a bearer plate (10) on which is arranged a block (16) of a pressed friction material. The plate has ends (11,11') which are hammerhead shaped with tractive and pressure loading or back cuts which are under tractive load, and on the side carrying the friction material block is a sintered retention bed comprising individual shape bodies with back cuts, or indentations. The bearer plate (10) provided with a rough base comprises a micro-alloyed steel with a carbon content of less than 0.2%, pref. less than 0.1% and in the area of its high loaded zones (30,30') is heated pref. to between 800 deg C and 900 deg C or over 900 deg C, after which it is cooled to room temp. USE/ADVANTAGE - To improve the strength properties of bearer plates for brake linings used on rail and road vehicles.
