The resonator of the solid state laser contains an electro-optical crystal which, with the application of an external electrical field, produces relative shift of the laser frequencies by phase modulation dependent on polarisation. The electric field serving for the tuning, lies transversely or longitudinally to the electro-optical crystal in accordance with the crystal cut. USE/ADVANTAGE - In interferometer for absolute measurement. Very compact, small line width, produces two beams mutually at right angles, which can be detuned over complete range of 0 to 30 GHz.
