The generator has a counter (1, 3) for time intervals, started from an edge of an input pulse (HSYNC), whose counting is terminated after a preset time period, connected to at least one of its inputs. An inverter (4) for the input pulse is also connected. There is an interrogation and control system (2) determines the binary value of the input pulse after the counting process termination. From the binary value is generated a control signal (SS). A change-over switch (5) is controlled by the control signal for supply either the non-inverted, or the inverted input pulse to an adder (7).
