The valve cartridge (2) is mounted into the stepped recess (15) of the valve body after trimming the outer sleeve of the cartridge to position the ceramic discs accurately. The outer threaded flange (3) is then screwed into the housing to clamp the stepped profile into the sealing position. The stepped profile cartridge has integral seals. The fitting adjustment can be by simple milling or by plastic deformation of the sleeve. The assembled valve has no stress on the valve section, with all the clamping force on the sealing step.
