An apparatus for monitoring the arrival of individual sheets (10') of flexible material (10) to the input station of a sheet processing machine employs an optical position sensor (20, 21) incorporated at the end of a feed conveyor (13, 14) which is activated during successive time intervals determined by a magnetically operated machine speed transmitter (25, 26). The sheets (10') are initially transferred to the conveyor (13, 14) by the suction-pad (12) from a stacking table (11) which indexes upwards to maintain constant height of the top sheet. Electronic data storage enables a continuing trend of early or late sheet arrival to be corrected. USE/ADVANTAGE - Incorporates all prerequistes for total sheet feed control with a minimum of expense. Has inbuilt capability for early/late trend recognition and correction.
