Signal reproduction control for music and speech signals - identifying music or speech signal characteristic by signal analysis to adjust volume and-or tone setting

The method for controlling signal reproduction of mixed music and speech signals involves analysing the signals, to identify a music signal characteristic, or a speech signal characteristic, to adjust the volume and/or the tone accordingly. Pref. the identified speech signals are used to select a higher volume setting. The adjustment between the different volume and/or tone settings is effected according to a characteristic which is matched to human hearing to provide a pleasant transition, e.g. using a linear volume increase or decrease. USE/ADVANTAGE - Radio reception, e.g. vehicle radio. Ensures optimum reproduction of both speech and music signals.
