Foaming of thermoplastic, aromatic polycarbonates comprises mixing the polycarbonates with 0.01-10 wt.% polypeptides and extruding either at 180-320 deg.C in an extruder to produce foamed mouldings or injection moulding at 190-330 deg.C in an injection moulding machine to produce foamed mouldings. Also claimed are (i) use of polypeptides to foam thermoplastic, aromatic polycarbonates; (ii) the polycarbonate foam moulding produced by the process; and (iii) additive-contg. polycarbonate foam moulding. USE/ADVANTAGE - The foamed polycarboantes can be used as propellents. The mouldings produced can be used to mfr. covers of lamps, housings, office equipment, and constructional parts of automobiles.
