The sensor carrier has upper and lower housing parts (2,3) pivotably connected together via an axle (4). Each has a deformable cushion (13,14) attached to its front end. The cushion are arranged opposite each other. A helical spring element (17) operates in the rear of the housing. A light conductor cable (20) contains at least one light conductor (21) leading to the cushions. The helical spring element is of non-metallic material. It is made of an elastomer, pref. of silicon. USE/ADVANTAGE - The sensor carrier is in the form of a clamp.
