The method involves converting an acoustic signal caused by a gas flow into an electrical signal. The electrical signal is amplified, frequency selected, added to an envelope signal and compared with a threshold value to detect a leakage. A high frequency component is extracted from the envelope signal, subjected to additional selection and processing and used as a comparison value with the specially formed threshold value. The separated HF component of low amplitude and duration envelope signals is released, amplitude and duration normalised and formed as equal voltage values considering frequency. ADVANTAGE - More sensitive method with minimal probability of measurement error.
