Mixing liq. and/or solids with second liq. - using pumped second liq. to induce turbulent mixing

In the mixing of a first liq. (e.g. feed liq.) and/or dispersed solids (e.g. solidified) with a second liq. (e.g. water or liq. mixt.) in a mixing tank, turbulent mixing is induced in the first liq. and/or dispersed solids in the tank by introducing the pumped second liq. in the form of one or more jets directed from one or more pipe openings onto one or more surfaces (pref. a free floating impact plate) in the tank interior. Also claimed are (i) use of a stream, which is directed from a pipe onto an impact plate, for mixing of different liqs. or of liqs. with disperse solids; and (ii) appts. for carrying out the mixing process. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used in the chemical pharamceutical and food industries for mixing components to cause chemical reaction, to produce a certain taste or to obtain a predetermined viscosity. Increased homogeniety of the mixt. is obtained without special mixing equipment and energy costs.
