Composting of biological and organic wastes is carried out by (a) pre-sorting the biological waste according to size and nature by sieving off a coarse fraction and opt. rejecting interfering materials; (b) separating foreign matter; (c) mixing the resulting material with cut green vegetable matter; (d) composting the mixt. in a main rotting stage involving loosening, aerating and wetting; (e) treating the material in a post-rotting stage, opt. with further aeration and wetting; and (f) sieving the finished compost, any remaining interfering material being sepd. ADVANTAGE - The process provides rapid composting, with reliable control of the rotting process and sepn. of any foreign and interfering matter contained in the organic waste
