The device (2) built into the trailing end of the door (1) is deployed automatically by pivoting, rocking or simple displacement whenever the door is opened. The deployment, which may be either mechanical or electromechanical, takes a captive cushion on the end of a curved horizontal arm outwards beyond the edge of the door panel so that the latter is stopped short of collision with any exterior obstacle. USE/ADVANTAGE - Against damage from contact with other vehicles or stationary objects esp. in restricted parking spaces, door is protected by device involving no screws, clamps or bonding with adverse effects on aerodynamics.
