The cylinder with preliminary stroke is characterised by the fact that a stroke is still available for a spot welding operation after actuation of the preliminary stroke piston via the connection (1). The preliminary stroke piston contacts a stop on the cylinder block. The spot welding piston (Fig.6) is actuated via the connection (2). This piston is accessible to compressed air from the connection (2) between the preliminary stroke piston and the cylinder block. Actuation of the piston via the connection (3) also restores the piston (7) to its original position. The piston rod is displaced by means of the piston and the disc. The disc consists of two parts. Rotation of the rod - which is provided with a bore for coolant flow - is prevented by means of an eccentric element and sleeves. The piston and the sleeves are made of fabric-reinforced plastics. USE/ADVANTAGE - In welding installations. It facilitates spot welding operations by making electrode positioning simpler and more accurate.
